About
The studio is led by Architects Sean Bignold and Ross Kerr, with over 20 years’ experience working together on award-winning projects and a strong track record delivering sustainable buildings and places that have long-lasting civic, community and social value.
Through clarity of thought and simplicity of design we strive to make the development process as uncomplicated as possible for our clients.
From conception to completion, we develop innovative masterplanning, architectural and interior design solutions to unlock often complex sites and we thoughtfully design to ensure deliverable projects.
Agile and dependable, we are able to offer a greater level of support and focus than larger architecture and design firms and believe that close collaboration and strong working relationships are key to achieving a successful development.
Ross Kerr
Director BA(Hons) Dip.Arch RIBA
Ross graduated from the Leicester School of Architecture in 1996. During an introductory period at EPR Architects he was responsible for the delivery of 50 Stratton Street, Mayfair, for Burford PLC and two buildings at Prudential’s Green Park, Reading, for Cisco Systems. Ross joined Hamiltons Architects in 2004 working alongside John Silver from Foster + Partners and became a Director in 2010. Working with Candy & Candy and Richard Rogers Partnership, Ross led the Interior Architectural Team for One Hyde Park, which set a global benchmark for ultra-high net worth living.
Ross cofounded Doone Silver Kerr in 2013 and led the design and delivery of 103 Colmore Row in the heart of Birmingham’s City Centre Conservation Area, Stow-Away Aparthotel and GPE’s first net zero Carbon Building at 50 Finsbury Square in London.
Ross has always searched for innovative design solutions and a number of buildings he has been responsible for have either won or been nominated for awards which celebrate the highest design quality and its positive contribution to its surroundings and life in our cities. Ross also developed his passion for exploring buildings that could sustainably respond to new ways of living and working, evolving a portfolio of highly successful, creative masterplans and complex urban-regeneration projects, which demanded an approach that looked beyond the typological mix of uses.
