50 Finsbury Square

50 Finsbury Square is an exemplar of innovative re-use. Working collaboratively, the design team focused on retaining as much of the existing fabric as was possible, re-engineering the existing Foster + Partners designed building to create a new benchmark for innovative deep retrofit commercial office space in London. It is GPE’s first building to be verified as Net Zero Carbon, beating industry standards for embodied carbon.

With innovation at the heart of the design, the project was conceived to be highly operationally efficient and adaptable, while providing a healthy and productive environment for its occupiers. It met GPE’s overarching objective to ensure that the new office space would anticipate future models of working and meet the highest modern office requirements to attract a wide variety of occupiers.

The creative design focused on increasing both the quantity and quality of office space, adding amenity space at the lower levels, activating the previously underutilised atrium, providing a new roof terrace and pavilion event space, and upgrading outdated building services to provide an adaptive workspace for the future.
